Assistant Professor of Computer Science
The College of Business Administration at Winthrop University is seeking to hire a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Computer Science.
We are seeking an excellent faculty member who will enhance the school's strength in Computer Science. Candidates must have a strong foundational knowledge of Computer Science. The candidate should, by August 16, 2023, possess a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, dedication to continued professional development, scholarship, and service as well as the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in any of the following areas: UX Design, User Experience, Interaction Design, Interactive Media/technologies, Information Architecture, Full Stack Dev, Mobile App Dev, VR Dev, Immersive, Web Dev, Human Centered Design, Human-Computer Interaction. The position is pending funding availability.
The Department of Computer Science and Quantitative Methods offers several degrees. The BS in Computer Science degree is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. The BS in Business Administration, including the Computer Information Systems concentration, is accredited by AACSB International. We also offer Bachelor's Degrees in Applied Software Development as well as a B.S. in Cybersecurity. The department also offers core courses for the BS in Digital Information Design degree as well as a concentration in Web App Development in the same major.

Qualifications
- Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline by the time of their employment in Fall 2023 (August 16, 2023). Candidates who are ABD in Fall 2023 may also be acceptable, but continued employment may be based on the candidate obtaining their Ph.D. within 12 months.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Fluency in one or more of the following: creative coding, physical computing, VR/AR/XR, 3D modeling/animation, game design/development, web development, interaction design, user experience design, storytelling (through sound, video, animation, and other media), bioart practices, media studies
- Experience in any or all of the following: Design for XR, VR, AR, design for voice, AI-driven design
- Relevant full stack software development experience
- Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C#, Java, etc
- Experience with Front-End frameworks such as Angular, Typescript, React, Vue, etc
- Mobile, Immersive, and Interactive Technologies and Design
