Job Summary/Basic Function:

The new Life and Career Design Institute (LCDI) is committed to assisting each student reach their full potential, while fostering the institution's mission of providing a transformative liberal arts education, combining theory and practices, for intellectually curious students in a collaborative, vibrant extended community and network that values and strives to create an equitable and just world. The Director of Career Navigation will report to the inaugural Assistant Vice President for Life and Career Design. The Director of Career Navigation stimulates high quality career, life, and graduate programming that engages students and challenge students to develop high level personal and professional competencies.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide leadership and supervision for the Career Navigation team in the Life and Career Design Institute, which will offer a broad array of life and career design programs. Develop comprehensive life and career design programs for the classroom and extra curricular experience. Provide life and career counseling to students that align with the Compass Curriculum. Collaborate with the Assistant Vice President in developing a innovative vision, and oversee the day to day functions ofLCDI. Work with theAVPto develop a strategic plan for the Life and Career Design Institute.
  • Develop assessment, evaluation, and analysis of programs that lead to the creation of new concepts, practices, that amplify the impact on student success and retention. Oversee the administration of Handshake with the Director of Experiential Learning and Employer Relations for internship and job postings.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with faculty and staff to meet student needs. Represent Life and Career Design to a broad range of constituents, including students, parents, and members of the faculty and staff, alumni and benefactors. Partner with offices within the Division of Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Institutional Equity and Inclusion to develop programs that encompass diversity, equity, and inclusion. Collaborate with theAVPand Director for Experiential Learning and Employer Relations in hosting the annual career and graduate school fair.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • The successful candidate must be innovative, decisive, proactive and solution oriented.
  • Knowledge of liberal arts education and how it can be transformative to the student experience.
  • Knowledge of models for and practices in life and career design career design
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement programs related to students' job needs
  • Demonstrated competence in strengthening and expanding internal and external relationships
  • Proven ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty, and alumni.
  • Strong advising, counseling and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communications.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience.
