Job Description:
The Maintenance Mechanic II (Painter) is responsible for the following:
- Preparing interior and exterior wall surfaces for painting or wallpapering by taping and plastering when necessary, washing, patching, and spackling cracks, sanding, burning, scraping and touching up, to ensure a smooth finish and enable paint to adhere to surface.
- Applying with a brush, roller, or spray equipment various types of paints, finishes, and coatings such as flat, semigloss/ gloss enamels, varnishes, stains, silicone, epoxy, etc., to preserve the surface and maintain the appearance.
- Performing stripe and design painting to improve the appearance of facilities and equipment.
- Performing routine and emergency repairs and maintenance, including assisting the Grounds Department in snow removal for safe campus use, scheduled and in response to emergency situations, as required.
- All other duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess ONE of the following:
- A high school or equivalency diploma and three years of experience painting and repainting of the interior and exterior of buildings and structures.
- Graduation from a pertinent high school level vocational course and two years of experience painting and repainting of the interior and exterior of buildings and structures.
- The completion of a pertinent two-year post high school or trade school course and one year experience painting and repainting of the interior and exterior of buildings and structures.
- Five years of work experience, including three years of experience painting and repainting of the interior and exterior of buildings and structures.
Possession of a valid New York State Motor Vehicle operator's license appropriate to the equipment operated. Depending on work assignment, must meet standards of OSHA regulation 1910.134 Respiratory Protection, and will be required to meet Federal, State and local standards with respect to health and safety.
Knowledge and commitment to the goals and mission of the community college and evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students required, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom. The demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse staff is also required.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.
WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule is Monday - Friday: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm.
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $51,473. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $63,075.
