Massey is seeking a Post Award Manager to join the Finance Team. The Post Award Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of post-award grant and contract administration. This role will involve managing the financial and administrative aspects of awarded grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with funding agency requirements, and facilitating effective communication between internal stakeholders and external partners. This position works cooperatively with the Director, Finance and Business Operations, departmental administrators and Principal Investigators (PIs) in Massey and Schools outside of Massey.

Minimum Hiring Standard:
  • Experience in post award grant and contract administration, preferably in a research or academic environment.
  • Experience leading a team of research administrators.
  • Strong understanding of federal regulations and compliance requirements related to grant and contract management.
  • Excellent financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with grant management software preferred.
  • Experience with Banner finance and grant management.
  • Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office suite, Google Drive, and Smartsheet.
  • Able to effectively communicate, follow up, and close the loop of communication on orders.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work with minimal supervision, work collaboratively and cooperatively in a complex organization.
  • Experience in Excel and/or other financial software programs to provide status reports to faculty and principal investigators.
  • Competency in use of computer software programs (Word, PowerPoint, Smartsheet and other financial and database software).
  • Strong, demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse work group, across all levels of management and staff and within tight deadlines. Strong oral and written communication skills.
Other job duties include and are not limited to:
  • Manage the post-award administration process for grants and contracts, including budget monitoring, financial reporting, and compliance oversight.
  • Provide oversight and leadership to the post award team who will be responsible for:
  • Reviewing award terms and conditions to ensure understanding and compliance with funding agency requirements.
  • Collaborating with Principal Investigators (PIs), project teams, and other stakeholders to review and project budgets and financial plans.
  • Monitoring project expenditures and prepare regular financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring timely invoicing and collection of funds from funding agencies and other sources.
  • Coordinating with internal departments, such as finance, accounting, and procurement, to ensure alignment and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for external partners, funding agencies, and auditors regarding post-award matters.
  • Providing guidance and support to PIs and project teams on financial and administrative matters related to grant and contract management.
  • Identifying and address any issues or discrepancies related to post-award administration in a timely manner.
  • Staying informed about changes in regulations and best practices related to grant and contract administration.
Preferred Hiring Standards:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field is preferred. Experience in finance, grants and accounting.
  • Experience in analyzing data, interpreting information, providing logical conclusions/projections and anticipating costs/obligations.
  • Previous management experience.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000
