The Division of Academic Affairs seeks an individual with experience in communication and events management for a full-time position. The individual in this position will work closely with and under the supervision of the Provost to manage a wide range of communication needs of the division, including internal email communication and social media postings about academic opportunities, events, and news, and print communications associated with events and projects sponsored by the office.
Responsibilities:
The Communications and Events Manager will work with a high degree of independence and initiative. The responsibilities will require a person with a strong work ethic, a keen sense of the importance of confidentiality and discretion, sound judgment necessary to make critical decisions about the content and tone of communications, and a dedication to timely completion of work.
Specific areas of responsibility will be:
--Management of incoming communications to the Office of Academic Affairs, including triage of critical follow up and creation of response plan as necessary.
--Drafting, approval, and dissemination of campus-wide communications from the Office of Academic Affairs.
--Drafting of communication on behalf of the Provost and Academic Affairs Deans to key partners and stakeholders.
--Development and management of social media presence for the Division of Academic Affairs, including Facebook, Instagram, and other outlets as relevant.
--Maintenance of Academic Affairs webpages in concert with the College's Office of Marketing and Communications.
--Management of events and meetings sponsored or hosted by the Division of Academic Affairs, the Provost, and the Academic Affairs Deans.
--Other duties as assigned by the Provost and the Special Assistant to the Provost.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree with at least five years of experience in a similar job.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use the software (particularly Microsoft Office Suite) and enterprise solutions (experience with Workday and Jenzabar a plus) necessary to perform highly professional tasks.
Preferred:
- Experience in higher education or a related setting
- More than 5 years of experience in a critical communication role
Physical Demands:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
