Description - External The Department of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh is inviting applications for a faculty position in Pediatric Surgery at the rank of Assistant Professor, appointment stream. The assigned faculty will play an integral role in the clinical care of pediatric surgery patients and have a strong involvement with medical students, residents, and fellow teachers. Outstanding individuals are encouraged to apply. This is an opportunity to join a group of 10 dedicated pediatric surgeons in a large-volume, academic surgical program. The call consists of pediatric surgery and trauma coverage. The practice is supported by a very strong multidisciplinary team. The faculty member will play an integral role in the clinical care of pediatric surgical/trauma patients and have a strong involvement in resident and fellow teaching, as well as access to clinical trial enrollment.

Qualifications: Minimum requirements include a medical degree, completion of an accredited general surgery residency training program, and fellowship in pediatric surgery, with eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania. Applicants should be Board Certified with significant interest and ability in clinical care and teaching. Candidates should possess strong clinical, interpersonal, analytical, and leadership skills, and evidence of interest in and involvement in clinical research and/or quality improvement activity.

Responsibilities: The qualified physician will be actively involved in patient care; medical student, resident, and fellow teaching in the area of pediatric surgery. This position will provide patient care at the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, as well as at surrounding satellite locations.
