The Department of Neurosurgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of neurotrauma and regenerative therapies, including preclinical modeling of peripheral nerve injury in porcine and rodent models, tissue engineered medical implants, and biomaterials science. An interest in animal models of peripheral nerve injury or neuromuscular injury is essential. A field of special interest is tissue engineering following neurotrauma, including expertise in advanced tissue fabrication, stem cell biology, and biomaterial science. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing an independent research program with external funding, including grant proposal writing and reporting for funded awards, presentations at local and national meetings of abstracts and invited platform talks, and publications of data collected from the research program in high-impact scientific journals.

Applicant must have at least 4 years of relevant postdoctoral experience and must have a record of extramural funding.
