JOB SUMMARY

The Campaign Project Manager (CPM) is responsible for supporting the implementation of key activities of the University's next Campaign. Under the direction of the Campaign Director, the CPM will organize the Campaign Office, including prioritizing workload and providing research, reports, and other information related to the Campaign's progress, and managing the timeline and tracking for the implementation of the Campaign Operating Plan. The CPM will liaise with campus leadership, donors, and high-level volunteer committee members. The ideal candidate has exceptional communication skills and attention to detail and can move quickly and flexibly through a heavy workload, successfully managing projects and assignments in an evolving, and sometimes ambiguous, environment. The position reports to the AVC Constituent and Donor Engagement/Campaign Director.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION

Budgeted Salary: $75,000 - $89,350/year. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.
Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to post a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The salary shown above is the budgeted amount the University reasonably expects to pay and the salary extended should not exceed this posted amount.

JOB DUTIES

65% - Executive Assistance
  • Provide a range of support and assistance to the AVC- CDE/Campaign Manager to successfully reach planning and public-phase milestones. Responsible for own work projects supporting the Campaign Operating Plan. Includes, but not limited to, the following:
  • Develop and outline the next steps in the Campaign Operating Plan and ensure a detailed timeline for tracking all activity.
  • Set up and staff small and large group meetings, including managing calendar, invitations, reminders, day-of logistics, and implementation and follow-up details.
  • Provide support for all activities of the high-level volunteer Campaign Committee.
  • Ensure Campaign reports are completed regularly, working with divisional colleagues to ensure timely completion.
  • Research a variety of Campaign-related topics (within UCSC as well as from other institutions) and present findings and recommendations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

25% - Campus Liason
  • Liaison with the Chancellor's Office for scheduling, briefings, and Campaign events.

10% - Project Management
  • Serve as project manager for campaign contracts (e.g., GG+A and Ologie).


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • At least five years of related experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Proven ability to coordinate, track, and present work in a clear and well-organized manner.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of common organization-specific computer applications.
  • Strong analytical / problem-solving skills.
  • Political acumen and sensitivities to the differing perspectives and political circumstances within all levels of the organization as well as the Chancellor's Office and external constituencies.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to stay calm and organized with multiple projects of demanding timeframes.
  • Strong skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, faculty, alumni/donors, high-level volunteers, students, and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.
  • A commitment to promoting and supporting an environment of diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to use a high level of discretion and maintain all confidentiality.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Campaign experience in higher education or a large non-profit organization.


SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
  • Ability to work long periods of time at a computer with or without accommodation.
  • The selected candidate will be required to work a hybrid work schedule and must be able to work successfully from a home/remote office and fulfill the requirements of the UCSC telecommuting agreement.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Selected candidate will be required to complete training within established time frames as directed including UC compliance training.
  • Ability to maintain appearance and conduct suitable for working in a professional setting.
