The Physical Plant Dept at SUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking qualified applicants for a skilled plumber. Performs journeyman Plumbing/Steam Fitting work and frequently supervises others in the installation, alteration and repair of kitchen and patient care equipment, medical gas systems, pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, heating control, domestic water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes. Also performs semi-skilled Welding and HVAC work.

 

Must possess four years of full-time experience in the Plumbing trade under a skilled journeyman which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in the plumbing trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis. Must also possess two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work in related trades, (Welding & HVAC) under supervision of a skilled tradesperson or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course. Valid NYS Driver’s License required.
