Job Description:
Position Available: Office Assistant 2 - (Calculations), SG-09, line # 05996
Location: SUNY College at Old Westbury - Office of the Bursar
Salary: $40,193.00 - $49,405.00, plus $3,087.00 location pay
Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Different hours may be required from time to time to meet the operating needs of the College.
Status: Permanent, Full-time

Duties:
According to Civil Service Standards, but particularly: must have computer skills, Excel and Word are used exclusively. Accurate, detailed record keeping is a must. Basic knowledge of financial aid eligibility preferred, and basic math skills.
- Computers/Entering Data: inputs information onto student's accounts utilizing applicable computer systems; accesses pertinent information from various websites/systems and interpret the information obtained.
- Cashiering: Interacts with students, parents, and staff at the Bursar's Office counter. Reviews accounts provides proper and accurate information; this includes reviewing registration history, financial aid screens, housing information, and payment information.
- Billing: Perform the billing for all monthly, semesterly and ad-hoc billing, including running Banner system processes and inputting the data to the e-Bill system.
- Attorney General Reporting and Delinquent Account Billing: identifies student past due balances. Identified information from various databases and documents such to include payment plan information, promissory notes, grades, financial aid data, etc. Files of those students are assigned to the New York State Attorney General are scrutinized to ensure accuracy. Maintains records of accounts assigned including those accounts that collections are received and applied to the student account along with judgement costs accounted for.
- Refund Checks/E-refunds: maintains the check stock in vault, notifies the Bursar when additional stock is needed to be ordered from bank, and initiates and monitors the check printing process which includes verifying the beginning and ending check numbers. Reviews every account for which an on-line check was issued. Accurate, detailed record keeping is a must. Also reviews all accounts that an e-refund was generated for prior to the file being uploaded to our bank to be processed.
- Customer Service: good verbal and written skills and ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and outside agencies is a must. Answering and responding to telephone calls and emails are required. Follow-up with students, parents and college departments are required.

Must be currently employed as an Office Assistant 2 (Calculations), be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service List, or be eligible for 70.1 transfer.
