Operator/Shift Operator, Water Treatment Plant
Solano Irrigation District is seeking candidates to join the M&I Operations team as an Operator/Shift Operator, Water Treatment Plant. We are accepting candidates who possess a California State Water Resources Control Board certification in Treatment at level T2, T3, or higher; and a certification in Distribution at level D1 or higher.
The Operator, Water Treatment Plant has California State Water Resources Control Board certifications, Treatment Level T-2 and Distribution Level D-1. They receive on-the-job training in in water treatment plant operations and maintenance. The Operator, Water Treatment Plant performs standard chemical and water quality tests; makes minor and major repairs to plant equipment; and schedules and collects water samples for analysis to maintain safe potable water.
The Shift Operator, Water Treatment Plant has California State Water Resources Control Board certifications, Treatment Level T-3 and Distribution Level D-2. They operate water treatment plants and are responsible for the water quality and monitoring of all district facilities that deliver and/or distribute potable water. The Shift Operator, Water Treatment Plant is responsible for scheduling and collecting water samples for analysis and takes active action in customer service and public relations.
Qualifications
Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above and the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Typical qualifying entrance background is:
Operator, Water Treatment Plant - Possession of a valid California State Water Resources Control Board Treatment Level T-2 and Distribution Level D-1; AND graduation from high school or equivalent.
Shift Operator, Water Treatment Plant - Possession of a California State Water Resources Control Board Treatment Level T-3 and Distribution Level D-2; two (2) years of work experience performing the functions of a water treatment plant operator; AND graduation from high school or equivalent.
Incumbent must possess a valid California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record to maintain insurability.

Retirement - Solano Irrigation District participates in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS).
- Classic CalPERS Members - benefits include equivalency of 2%@60 formula with the following provisions: final compensation is the monthly average of highest 36 consecutive months; and credit for unused sick leave. Employee pays 7% Employee Contribution.
- New CalPERS Members – benefits include equivalency of 2%@62 formula with the following provisions: three-year final compensation period used to calculate the average final compensation; and credit for unused sick leave. Employee pays 6.75% Employee Contribution.
Deferred Compensation - 457 plan available. Employee may defer up to the annual maximum, as outlined by the IRS, on a tax-deferred basis.
Health Insurance - Plans include Anthem Blue Cross HMO and PPO plans and a Kaiser Permanente plan. The District pays a portion of the premium for employee and dependent coverage.
Dental Insurance - Dental provider is Premier Access Dental. District pays full premium for both employee and dependents.
Life Insurance - Benefit is equal to 2x annual base salary rounded to the next higher $1,000, up to a maximum of $300,000. Premium is paid by the District.
