Engineering Technician I/II
The Engineering Technician I/II performs paraprofessional engineering office and field work, of average to moderate difficulty and complexity, in the design, construction and maintenance of all District and partnership facilities. These involve surveying, drafting, mapping, real property interests, underground service alert (USA) markings, and related activities. This position also provides support for the Engineers, Process Control Technician, and the Director of Engineering.
Engineering Technician I – This is the entry level class in the Engineering Technician series. The Engineering Technician I works under immediate supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to general supervision as procedures and processes of assigned area of responsibility are learned.
Engineering Technician II – This is the journey level class in the Engineering Technician series and is distinguished from the level I by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new, unusual, or unique situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are normally filled by advancement from the level I.

Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above and the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Experience and Education
Engineering Technician I
- Experience: No work experience in this field is required.
- Education: Equivalent to completion of an Associate’s degree with course work in mathematics, drafting, AutoCAD, GIS, engineering or related field.
Engineering Technician II
- Experience: Three years’ work experience as an Engineering Technician I at Solano Irrigation District.
- Education: Equivalent to completion of an Associate’s degree with course work in mathematics, drafting, AutoCAD, GIS, engineering or related field.
Licenses and Certification

Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver License with a satisfactory driving record to maintain insurability.
