Assistant/Associate Director of Dance Movement Therapy
Job Description
- Research, recruit, develop and maintain placement sites to ensure that there are sufficient ADTA compliant placements to meet fieldwork/internship requirements for graduation
- Develop and maintain database of current sites and placements
- Update changes in site personnel annually
- Coordinate student internship interview process and assignment of fieldwork placement
- Formulate placement assignments in consultation with the Program Director
- Manage students' clinical placements and monitor compliance of documentation
- Maintain forms, contracts, documentation of hours, and evaluations
- Develop placement education materials and communicate requirements to students and supervisors
- Develop and maintain working relationships with placements through communication and site visits
- Act as contact person for supervisors regarding issues/problems with students
- Visit each site twice per year to troubleshoot and assess whether site continues to maintain ADTA standards for training
- Train clinical supervisors and act as liaison between supervisors and academic program
- Develop, with the Program Director, an annual Supervisors' Workshop
- Provide weekly group clinical supervision for all first year students in both on-campus and off-campus sites
- Lead weekly dance/movement therapy group
- Act as liaison to Early Childhood Center and Riverdale Neighborhood House to provide support for student learning and to facilitate effective incorporation of dance/movement therapy into curriculum
- Represent Sarah Lawrence College as a member of the ADTA Committee on Approval
- Teach one (two) course per semester plus thesis
Essential Duties Summary
- Knowledge of dance/movement therapy and counseling
- Experience working with children and graduate students
- Comprehensive knowledge of ADTA certification requirements

Required Qualifications
Must hold a Master’s Degree in Dance/Movement Therapy with a BC-DMT certification. Additionally, must have a minimum of five years of experience supervising dance/movement therapy students
