About Quinsigamond Community College:

Quinsigamond Community College (QCC), the largest community college in Central Massachusetts serving over 13,000 students in degree and certificate programs, adult education and workforce development. Job Description:


General Statement:

For over fifty years, Quinsigamond Community College has provided opportunities for a first-rate education and personal growth to thousands. Quinsigamond Community College is seeking student-centered faculty and staff who are committed to the community college mission and actively engaged in promoting diversity.

This position facilitates learning for students enrolled in the Associate Degree in Nursing Program or the Practical Nursing Certificate Program. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of strong clinical skills and academic experience in nursing education. All positions may include day, evening, and weekend hours.

Supervision Received:

The full-time faculty member reports directly to the Dean of School of Healthcare

Supervision Exercised:

The full-time faculty member exercises supervision over assigned personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide classroom, clinical, simulation, laboratory and/or team-teaching instruction and facilitate individualized and non-traditional approaches to learning as appropriate.
  • Develop and/or revise instructional materials with other faculty members.
  • Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students of varying learning styles and abilities.
  • Demonstrate professional nursing practice through the ability to teach in the nursing laboratory/clinical.
  • Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize the learning process and measure student learning outcomes.
  • Actively participate in curriculum development and assessment, program review and the accreditation processes.
  • Conduct academic advising and assistance of students.
  • Continuously assess processes and procedures and revise accordingly.
  • Participate in nurse education program and college-wide meetings.
  • Participate in college service activities in concert with the provisions of the MCCC Agreement.
  • Actively support the teaching and learning process; practicing honesty and integrity in and out of the classroom; striving to create and support a student-centered environment while fostering academic innovation and excellence.
  • Working actively with other areas of the college to ensure a spirit of college wide collaboration, collegiality, civility, and teamwork. Respect the function of dissent in an academic institution while advancing a collegial atmosphere of campus collaboration.
  • Embracing the ideals of diversity and inclusiveness and belonging while supporting the equal rights of all people by advancing the understanding and appreciation of differences including age, race, gender, ability, religious convictions, socio-economic status, ethnic heritage, or sexual orientation.
  • Providing flexible, responsive, and high-quality service to all, be they students, community, or staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Master's Degree with a Major in Nursing.
  2. Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing.
  3. Possess a minimum of two years of
  • medical-surgical and maternity experience OR
  • medical-surgical and pediatric OR
  • medical-surgical and mental health/psychiatric nursing experience OR
  • medical-surgical/skilled/long term care nursing experience OR

its equivalent within the last five years.

4. Evidence of clinical competence in of

medical-surgical and maternity experience OR
medical-surgical and pediatric OR
medical-surgical and mental health/psychiatric nursing experience OR
medical-surgical/skilled/long term care nursing experience OR
its equivalent within the last five years.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of successful college teaching, preferably in a community or technical college setting.
  • Evidence of experience in clinical simulation.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach nursing education in didactic, lab and clinical courses.
  • Documented examples of curriculum / course development and assessment.
  • Integration of computer technology into instruction.
  • Documented evidence/examples of effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges, their students and philosophy.
  • Evidence of understanding of and appreciation for diversity and multiculturalism.
  • Predisposition to working in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated track record in innovative, non-traditional modes of instruction and instructional delivery, including team teaching across disciplines, on-line learning and service learning.
  • Strong evidence of passionate commitment to striving for excellence in working with students, faculty, and staff and in responding to opportunities that extend the Mission of the College

Salary is commensurate with MCCC/MTA salary schedule and dependent upon such factors as education and experience. Minimum starting salary for master's level candidate is $68,192. Full salary range is $68,192- $73,469 Full benefits package.

This position may be required to perform additional duties (21.03 A) related to instruction, beyond the academic year, associated with the program assessment, program accreditation, and delivery of program courses.
