SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Finance Administrator and in coordination with the HR Generalist, the Mason Transit Authority’s (MTA) Administrative Assistant position performs general accounting support through processing of accounts receivable/payable, invoicing, deposits, and assistance with monthly and annual reconciliation. This position also works closely with the Human Resources Department in assisting with employee payroll and benefits, onboarding, and Drug and Alcohol Program coordination. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for the essential duties of this job description in support of the Finance and Human Resources Departments.
Administrative Assistant Salary Range - $21.56 - $29.33 per hour DOQ, Non-Exempt subject to FLSA requirements.

In addition, position is eligible per permitting circumstances inclement weather pay, meeting and training pay, and education assistance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: working with Washington State BARS, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements, the principles and practices of payroll and management of payroll records.
Skill in: using a computer and related software applications; completing assigned work within prescribed timelines; communicating effectively both orally and in writing; establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with others; maintaining records; and analyzing situations effectively and adopting appropriate courses of action.
Ability to: learn new software applications; multi-task and respond appropriately and effectively in hectic situations; maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and materials; provide excellent customer service; work independently; operate standard office machines and equipment (copy machine, adding machine, fax and PC).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates degree in accounting or other business-related field and Two (2) years’ minimum progressive accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Successfully pass background check
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience processing payroll, handling general ledger accounts, and other related functions preferred.
- Experience with Paylocity.
- Prior public sector experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The duties of this position require sitting for extended periods of time and use of hands to accomplish work. Standing, walking, reaching, bending and lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds are required.
