Job Description:
Longwood University seeks candidates for a full-time lectureship in Spanish, to begin August 2023. Teaching responsibility is fifteen credits per semester and will include courses in beginning and intermediate Spanish. Class size is 18 students for most sections.
Requirements:
The Department of English and Modern Languages has a mission to serve our students by helping them improve as writers, speakers, and citizens. We do so through a diverse array of offerings that include Spanish, French, German, Latin, and American Sign Language. The program in modern languages endorses active, communicative instruction that leads students to proficiency at the intermediate level. Candidates must have an advanced degree (MA, ABD, PhD) in Spanish and evidence of effective college-level instruction. Applicants should demonstrate collaboration skills, the ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, experience with communicative language teaching, and a commitment to undergraduate teaching. We are a collegial university and department committed to teaching and strong student-faculty interaction. A demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of the university mission is required.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, non-tenure track instructional faculty position. Annual salary will be $48,000. A successful criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
