Job Description:
The Department of Education and Counseling of Longwood University invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Early Childhood Education (#F0111) to begin August 2020 off-campus in Martinsville, VA. Longwood has a track record of providing programs off-site in this region and will be expanding to include early childhood education.
Requirements:
Applicants should demonstrate knowledge of best practices when working with children birth through age eight in inclusive settings; a commitment to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching; an interest in developing partnerships with local school divisions and agencies; and evidence of scholarship in the form of research and/or presentations at the local, state, or national level.
Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in early childhood general and special education in both public and private birth through eight settings.
The successful candidate will possess an earned doctorate in Early Childhood Education or a related field (PhD or EdD; ABD will be considered) with at least three years of birth to eight teaching experience, and a current teaching license in early childhood special education. Dual licensure in PreK-3 or PreK-6 is preferred. Experience teaching college-level courses and supervising student teachers in the field is also preferred.
