Functional Analyst III - SDA
- Summary
This Functional Analyst III will provide primary support for Farebox Revenue Collection by maintaining and configuring the automatic cash fare collection system using GFI software. This position also serves to provide knowledgeable, articulate verbal and written responses to queries from customers, internal staff and stakeholders. The term of the assignment is 3 years with a possibility of extension.
- Job Duties

- Maintain and configure the automatic cash fare collection system using GFI Genfare propriety software; update the fare structure within the system for fare increases and fare media changes.
- Analyze data from the farebox system for accuracy, trends and anomalies; reconcile with Revenue Processing Center cash deposit records on a daily basis; interact with Revenue Processing Center (RPC) staff regarding daily reconciliation process issues.
- initiate remedial action when needed based on analysis of data trends and anomalies; plan and conduct customized system-wide analysis for theft prevention and/or related investigations.
- Respond to requests from auditors and supervisors for system information and reports.
- Participate in a rotating assignment for adverse weather as a representative for Metro Transit at SDOT.
- Create a wide variety of daily, monthly and quarterly reports for various internal and external business units, from the farebox Revenue Collection System database and RPC revenue records, using SQL, Access and Excel; create customized ad hoc reports as needed.
- Monitor and maintain performance of farebox and automatic bus fare collection equipment systems on a 24/7 basis as needed; ensure that systems are reporting as expected; correct any computer/database operating problems; respond to and trouble-shoot hardware, software, connectivity and other operational and functional disruptions and malfunctions, interacting with vendors and IT as needed.
- Maintain data on fareboxes needing repair; interact with Vehicle Maintenance staff for repair issues and to investigate potential theft; analyze bad coaches, researching coach numbers and discrepancies.
- Oversee maintenance and daily exchange of program/database of Mobile Bins.
- Maintain revenue/ridership spreadsheets for Water Taxi operations.
- Provide knowledgeable, articulate written and verbal responses to queries from customers, internal staff and all other stakeholders.
- Exercise strict discretion towards status, location and processes related to work.
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a current career service King County employee.
- Experience with common office equipment, systems and software, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook or similar applications, and ability to learn new applications.
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis and data management. Strong customer service skills and experience.
- Strong organizational abilities and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a wide range of individuals, including making presentations before groups and committees.
- Flexibility and the ability to prioritize and work effectively and cooperatively on complex tasks within tight time and budget constraints.
- Demonstrated self-motivation and the ability to work independently, as a member of a team, and to be able to take direction from multiple levels of supervision, as well as from peers.
- Demonstrated reliability and dependability.
- Ability to create and use database queries (SQL preferred).
- Work experience in the Revenue Processing Center.
- A valid Washington State Driver's License or alternate ability to report quickly to remote locations such as transit bases, as necessary.

Who May Apply
This position is open to current King County career service employees only who have passed their initial King County probationary period. Pay and duration will be in accordance with Personnel Guidelines or selected employee's collective bargaining agreement.
Work Schedule
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is therefore not eligible for overtime pay. Work schedule is normally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Attendance at occasional evening or weekend meetings may be required
