Franklin County seeks an Full Time Emergency Services Communications Coordinator for the Public Safety Department. The ES Coordinator will provide oversight and management of all communications system equipment & assets. Responsible for: oversight of all communications system improvement projects; proper performance & maintenance.
Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronic engineering and five (5) years of telecommunications maintenance experience required. An equivalent combination of experience, training, and education will be considered.
Annual Salary $45,356 (Negotiable) Depending on Qualifications/Experience with Exclusive Benefits.
Organizational Development:
Work is performed under regular supervision of the Director of Public Safety in collaboration with the 9-1-1 Director.
Typical Tasks:
- Manages the installation, operation and maintenance of end user communications system equipment;
- Assist with recommendations for the purchase of radio system components and the maintenance and repair of equipment and for other services required to provide reliable radio service;
- Provide direct contact with vendors that perform installation of equipment, maintenance and technical support; verify vendor performance and adherence to contracts;
- Manage the infrastructure preventative maintenance program for all voice, data, and microwave networks, including tower structures, back-up power generators, and site management;
- Provide direct contact with all agencies to help identify appropriate talk groups and approve templates and programming changes; coordinate subscriber programming activities and either program radios for agencies, or coordinate the programming through a third-party provider for the agency;
- Work with user agencies to identify and resolve technical issues affecting their use of the radio system;
- Develops and conducts radio system education and user training for all system users. Maintains records of training activities and develops in-service training on periodic basis to system users.
- Provides oversight of the county emergency notification system in collaboration with 9-1-1 Director;
- Serves as county representative in joint private/public wireless communications projects;
- Provide immediate notifications to all agencies if unplanned downtime should occur and timely notifications of planned downtime;
- Perform quarterly system fail soft training and drills;
- On-call status is 24/7 for emergency service restoration of the system;
- Provide monitoring of 911 dispatch consoles, stakeholder subscribers and assures quality of preventative maintenance, and software upgrades as required;
- Assists with the preparation and administration of the County Communications System budget;
- Investigates, analyzes, and resolves hardware and associated software and communications problems on Public Safety and Sheriff’s Department computer systems; performs complex hardware repairs and maintenance on a wise range of pc-based computers and peripherals;
- Performs advanced hardware technical assistance and support; troubleshoots and resolves system hardware, software, and communications failures and conflicts;
- Reviews and processes problem reports; documents the progress of problem resolutions;
- Maintains a high level of customer service;
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
