Job Summary
Oversees the maintenance operations at Modesto Maidique Campus (MMC), Engineering Center (EC) and Biscayne Bay Campus (BBC). Assigns staff to the Wolfsonian Museum /Annex and the International Center for Tropical Botany (ICTB) when needed.

Job Summary
Oversees the maintenance operations at Modesto Maidique Campus (MMC), Engineering Center (EC) and Biscayne Bay Campus (BBC). Assigns staff to the Wolfsonian Museum /Annex and the International Center for Tropical Botany (ICTB) when needed.
- Supervises the Life & Safety Maintenance mechanics at MMC,EC and BBC for monitoring, inspecting and testing of life safety and utility equipment and systems. Responsible, staff leave approval,
- payroll reporting and preparing annual performance evaluations for each crew member. Implantation of equipment preventive maintenance (PM) program by managing and issuing work orders with the use of Maximo and tracking work order task to completion with crew staff for coordinating inspection schedules. Ensures that equipment PM records are kept up to date.
- Schedules and oversees the yearly inspections, maintenance and repairs handled by contractors for the following LSUS equipment: fire alarms, fire sprinklers, fire suppression systems, fire back flow preventor, elevators, and boilers and maintains report record keeping for equipment inspections and repairs by the contractors. Also schedules with crew staff to monitor and make monitor repairs to the before mentioned and coordinate the test and inspections of lift stations, generators, water pumps, air compressors, vacuum pumps and loading dock lifts.
- As part of crew supervision, create task work plans for staff members and monitor task assignments by providing feedback on performance. Manages staff performance as well as any conflicts that may arise between crew members.
- Works with contractors to get proposals for requested work to be performed, conduct site visits with contractors to determine repair needs. Maintains parts inventory records with the warehouse to make sure most used parts are available. Reviews and approves invoices by contractors and vendors. Serves as the University's credit card user for departmental transactions.
- Coordinates with FIU project managers and department heads for work to be performed by contractors that may require equipment shutdown, testing and repair.
- Answers and responds to radio calls from work management when crew staff is not unavailable.
- Assigns crew staff to report for duty work to handle and prepares for campus emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, emergency university closings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed by supervisor for tasks that are logically related to this position.
- High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of relevant experience. Completion of a vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
