Eagle Physicians and Associates, P.A. (Eagle) is an independent physician-owned multi-specialty medical group that provides high quality medical care to our patients in 12 different locations throughout Guilford County. Founded in 1995, Eagle has grown to over 50 physicians and 12 mid-level providers representing pediatrics, family practice, internal medicine, geriatrics, sleep medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, gastroenterology and endocrinology. Eagle has a full-service central laboratory and ultrasound as well as an endoscopy suite. Eagle's mission is to deliver integrated, patient-centered medical services for patients in Greensboro and the surrounding area through an environment of leadership that concentrates on continually developing a premier team of professionals committed to high-quality, effective, efficient, state-of-the-art-care. Eagle is a member of Triad Healthcare Network (THN) which is a CMS designated Accountable Care Organization. All 7 of Eagle's primary care practices are NCQA Level 3 certified Patient Centered Medical Homes.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Accounting and Purchasing Manager will be responsible for supporting the financial operations for this multi-specialty physician practice in conjunction with the Eagle CFO and will work closely with the management team to drive and support the financial vision, direction, guidance and compliance to support successful operations. He/she shall report to the Chief Financial Officer.
The ideal candidate will be a physician-friendly, service-oriented and innovative accountant who will be responsible for the development of the annual and long-term budgets/forecasts, proformas, as well as provide analysis and commentary on the financial impact of operational and strategic initiatives of the practice. He/she should be articulate and have a proven track record in healthcare accounting and purchasing management to ensure the efficiencies in a multitude of cost accounting, financial reporting, data processing, revenue cycle, expense management, purchasing and service delivery processes that result in sustainable positive outcomes for the organization.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the CFO.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Select Accounting Department Staff
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting for long periods of time. Working in office environment. Some bending and stretching required. Requires normal range of hearing, vision and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator and other office equipment as needed. Requires ability to work under stressful conditions with sporadic irregular hours. Requires even temperament to have effective coping mechanisms and stress management skills as job entails interacting with angry and upset individuals.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: High volume, fast-paced, deadline-oriented office environment. Early morning, evening and weekend work/meetings sporadic, but not routine.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
Supports the mission, vision and values of Eagle.
Assures Eagle compliance with federal, state and local government laws and regulations, including STARK. Follows fully Eagle procedures and rules.
Prepare month and period end data processing from Eagle Electronic Medical Records software to create detail and summary reports for financial statements and clinical provider performance.
Produce monthly Financial Statements by profit or cost center.
Manage the accounts payable process from orders through approvals, including reviewing all invoices before payment. Maintain A/P process compliance to insure timely and appropriate payment for goods and services.
Manage Eagle's fixed asset inventory listing and notify Eagle's CPA firm of acquisitions and disposals.
Manage relationships with various vendors and our Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) and monitor compliance with agreed upon pricing and other terms. Coordinate with site staff to ensure preferred vendors are used.
Negotiate and maintain Eagle's contracts for products, services and equipment, and manage office leases.
Prepares annual budgets in collaboration with the CFO and site managers.
Prepares financial feasibility analysis (proformas) for capital projects, acquisitions, new providers and other business ventures.
Maintains cost accounting system by service line.
Maintains general ledger, is responsible for monthly closing activities and ensures audit adjustments are minimized. Reviews and provides logical explanations for monthly, quarterly and annual variances in general ledger accounts and Eagle financial statistics.
Ensure compliance with closing calendar, planning deadlines and reporting requirements.
Assist CFO in recruitment, supervision, and development of a strong diverse financial team that is highly-motivated and has established goals and performance expectations. Provide disciplinary actions when needed and annual performance reviews on assigned staff.
Supports, promotes and advocates decisions and processes made by the organization that he/she may disagree with.
Participation on the Eagle Finance Committee and Operations Committee. These meetings are usually monthly at 7:00 am.
Present financial status updates at the various sites as requested and works proactively and collaboratively with site managers on understanding and interpreting financial reports so managers can better operate their sites.
Has exceptional, high-functioning, mastery-level Microsoft Excel skills, and ability to quickly learn and adapt to other computer applications, software and proprietary systems, such as Access, eClinical Works and others.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking a candidate with significant financial management, purchasing and accounting experience in healthcare. Ideally, the Accounting and Purchasing manager will have experience that includes working for/with a large multi-specialty physician group. The candidate we seek will be a self-starter with high intelligence and energy level; a team player with dynamic critical thinking skills, confidence to interact productively with all personalities, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; and a strategic planner and problem solver who can successfully apply his/her experience and appropriate judgment to deal with complex business situations. Moreover, this position will be a hands-on doer who balances participation with delegation and empowerment. It is particularly important that this individual have the ability to understand Eagle's long-range plans and be able to strategically transmit these plans and policies to the day-to-day operations of the practice.

5+ years of accounting experience (preferably in healthcare) required.
Basic supply chain management skills with emphasis on optimizing total cost of ownership.
EDUCATION: Must have a 4-year undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance. An advanced degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred, as is a CPA designation.
