CEO/Executive Director
The Danville, Virginia, Redevelopment and Housing Authority (DRHA) is seeking a dedicated, experienced and qualified professional applicant for the position of CEO/Executive Director to replace our current retiring CEO.
The qualified individual will be a proven leader with a progressive career in public and affordable housing management. He or she will be highly innovative with the ability to develop housing and funding sources, optimize capital and housing expenditures and maintain constant compliance with all funding sources. Under the general direction of a 7-member Board of Commissioners, the Executive Director will assume full responsibility for all DRHA services and activities, including management of the overall operations and staffing of the Housing Authority, as well as planning, directing, and implementing all policies, programs, and services.
The Executive Director will advise and assist the Board of Commissioners and will represent the organization before the public, the media, government entities, and other parties. The Executive Director will provide effective leadership to 42 staff members while implementing the strategic plan, vision, and mission of the organization. The portfolio and budget of the DRHA include 492 PH units, 1510 Housing Choice Vouchers, 64 tax credit units, 20 non-federal units and $13.5 million in operating and grant funding.
The candidate is required to possess the following minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in business administration, public administration, financial management, or related field; or equivalent experience required.
- Significant experience working with affordable housing programs, community development, or public administration with five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience of ten or more staff for at least one year required.
- Significant experience working with housing or community development and local, state, and federal grants required.
- Significant experience in fiscal management, maintenance systems, personnel and administrative management systems in public or private housing preferred.
- Experience serving the needs of communities and special needs populations preferred.
- Experience with successfully raising funds.
Hiring salary range is $95,000-$120,000 but negotiable depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
