Youth Care Worker (Female and Male)

Are you interested in a career where you can make a difference in the community? If so, the Police Department has an opening for Male and Female Youth Care Workers to perform intermediate protective service and human support work at the Juvenile Detention Division in the day-to-day care, supervision, and security of detainees in a secured detention setting while assuring the safety and well-being of all detained children. Supervises activities to assure safe and secure operations, monitors discipline of detainees through an approved behavior management program; and counsels the children on issues specific to their detention adjustment. Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Although no additional education and/or experience required, college level courses in social work or related field is a plus as well as any experience working with children. Possession of a valid Driver's license and possession of or ability to obtain certification in CPR, First Aid, and physical restraint. Required steps in selection process include police record checks, polygraph test, reference checks, substance abuse testing, psychological evaluation and background investigation. Salary:$31,560 annually Position works 12.25 hour shift (Panama/Goodyear schedule) and could be a day or night shift position.
