Social Services Case Manager

Cancer Action is seeking to hire a compassionate professional to be a Case Manager. Cancer Action is a local nonprofit providing practical and financial services and emotional support to cancer patients and their families living in the Kansas City metro area. Case Managers are the anchor of the programs and services offered by Cancer Action. They help reduce distress and improve well-being by arranging services to meet physical, social, educational and financial needs and offer emotional support to the patient and family throughout their personal cancer journey.

Qualifications include:

1.    Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related helping field, prefer at least 2 years of Case Management experience. MSW or related Master degree preferred. Health care experience, bilingual is a plus. Prefer experience in working with diverse populations.  This 4-day, 32/hour a week, position will provide services through both the Independence, Missouri and Overland Park, Kansas office. 

2.   Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.

3.   Ability to communicate well and represent the mission of Cancer Action to clients, 
volunteers, and the community.

4.   Ability to provide compassionate, professional care to agency clients.

5.   Effective communication skills both verbal and written and problem-solving skills.

6.   Excellent organization skills and ability to plan, organize, multitask and prioritize 
      workload.

7.   Good computer skills necessary for client data reporting and service delivery tracking 
      efficiently.

8.   Knowledge of local, national and government resources, health care and/or issues 
      impacting those with cancer and impact of serious illness helpful.
