Job Description
Founded in 1967, Blue Ridge Community College has served the residents of the central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for over 50 years. Its comprehensive program of instruction includes associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in occupational/technical and college/university transfer programs. The College also provides non-credit workforce training and special interest classes for individuals, business, and industry.
Will teach Java programming including data structures, computer system development and entry-level information literacy courses. May teach combination of day & evening classes. Will teach 30 credit hours in an academic year and requires additional time for tutoring, mentoring and general office hours. In addition to teaching, responsibilities for all faculty include academic advising; service on college committees; participation in scholarly and professional activities; mentoring adjunct faculty within the discipline; development and support of courses and programs; community service; and institutional service.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Requires Master’s Degree in Computer Science (CS) or related field, with at least 18 graduate hours specifically in CS. Requires a demonstrated dedication to teaching, an understanding of the community college mission and environment, and demonstrated competence in the use of instructional technology.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications: Community college or university teaching experience is preferred and at least 2 years IT work experience.
