The mission of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at Binghamton University is to enroll students who meet academic and financial guidelines, provide support and advocacy for students from admission through graduation. EOP is committed to providing opportunities to its students so that they may reach their full potential, with a focus on academic excellence, cultural awareness and social responsibility. Through personal attention and academic and cultural support, EOP gives students the tools they need to build academic skills that lead to success.
The Division of Student Affairs at Binghamton University manages a portfolio of traditional student affairs units, as well as auxiliary enterprises and multiple academic support programs. Given the programmatic and budgetary scale ($60 million), the Division maintains its own business, planning and assessment, communications and HR staff. The Division of Student Affairs at Binghamton is an entrepreneurial, creative and analytics-driven culture where change is a constant. The Vice President places a high value on strategic innovation. Job Description
Under the direction of the EOP Director, the Associate Director will serve in a leadership role within the office, assisting in the management of day-to-day operations. Providing holistic support to economically and academically disadvantaged students, the EOP Associate Director will:
- Assess and strategize to ensure effective EOP services that are robust and reinforce student progress and success.
- Maintain a counseling relationship with EOP students and provide academic, career, financial and personal counseling in the virtual and traditional environment; maintain accurate and comprehensive records on all assigned students.
- Accurately collect, plan and prepare reports and documents concerning EOP for internal and external state-mandated reporting.
- Provide onboarding and training for new EOP counselors, with an emphasis on continued development and retention.
- Collaborate with and serve as liaison to Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid & Student Records Office of Institutional Research, to promote recruitment, enrollment, retention, and graduation of low-income and underrepresented students.
- Serve on the Harpur College Academic Standards Committee.
- Serve on TAP and Excelsior/Financial Aid Guidelines Committees.
- Organize and facilitate all aspects of the EOP Recognition Ceremony.
- Serve as a member of the EOP Budget Team and assist the Director with oversight of financial resources assigned to EOP and assist in the pursuit of external funding sources.
- Serve as liaison to the Division of Advancement and participate in identifying and securing external funding sources.
- Provide direction and oversight of the EOP summer program. Provide individual and group counseling during the EOP summer program.
- Participate in professional development activities to continually evolve best practices and stay abreast of innovative and research-based practices. Evaluate and provide development opportunities for EOP staff and services.
- Coordinate special projects and initiatives related to educational equity, retention and graduation of EOP students.

- The successful candidate will be an individual with enthusiasm and integrity, who understands the needs, and is committed to the success of EOP students, and who has a vision for access programs that emphasizes academic priorities.
- A master's degree in college student personnel administration, higher education administration, counseling or a related discipline is required. A terminal degree (PhD, EdD, JD or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in higher education is required, demonstrating a record of progressively responsible experience with educational and/or access programs in addition to supervisory experience.
- Candidates must also exhibit exceptional administrative and communication ills and be able to manage multiple priorities to establish effective liaisons across the University, to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff, and to provide regular program assessment and evaluation.
